Years after his death, fans are finally getting a glimpse into what musical treasure lay in Michael Jackson's vault.
On May 13, Epic Records will release Xscape, a collection of eight, previously unreleased MJ songs.
The highly anticipated album was executive produced by Epic Records' L.A. Reid, who also decided on its final tracklist. A host of recognizable producers worked on the Jackson songs, including Timbaland who also served as the project's lead producer.
The eight tracks were chosen after apparently combing through four decades of material. All the songs on Xscape feature completed Jackson vocals, according to the release, but they were re-tooled to make them more contemporary.
“Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with. We are extremely proud and honored to present this music to the world,” Reid said in a statement.
